My ANZAC

Ni Hao

This is the slide that I made about my aunty and what I did to honour her and soldiers from ANZAC

On Friday I made a Lantern out of a milk bottle and Poppys out of a warehouse shopping bag

On Saturday My mum MJ and I got up early and stood at the end of our driveway and listened to the last post and sang the national anthem.

On Sunday we made ANZAC cookies. it was my first time. it was so yum I ate a lot.

It was a great weekend honoring my Aunty Megan and Ray and remembering all the people and animals who died at Gallipoli.

What an awesome blog post you have written here. I loved reading about your Aunty and Ray in your slide show. The questions you asked were fantastic.
The lantern you made and the poppies are gorgeous. I also think the biscuits look delicious. You have celebrated ANZAC day in a fantastic way.
Thank you for sharing your story!

  2. Wow Maiyah you have done wonderful work with your Anzac slides, poppies, lantern and Anzac biscuits. I stood at my gate at 6 am on Saturday too as I was remembering my Dad and other family members who have fought in wars. You have worked very hard in this lockdown period, and I am very proud of what you have done. Mrs Duthie

  4. Ni hoa Maiyah.
I am always so impressed with the learning and exploring you and your family do. I love that you interviewed your aunty and Ray and shared their experiences and what inspired them. What you have created must have made Aunty Megan and Ray's day and is a tribute to them.
Your lantern is really effective and looks lovely. Did you take it outside with you at dawn?
I don't blame you for eating lots of ANZAC biscuits. They are pretty delicious.
Thank you a great blog post.

  6. Hi Miyah,
This year would have been an odd year for your Aunty and all her comrades from the Defence Force. I know that ANZAC Day is the day when they gather with people who understand what they have been through in a way that civilians like us don't fully comprehend.
Our NZDF do an amazing job in so many parts of the world, helping to make other people be able to have the privileges that we take for granted.
Thank you for sharing a personal story and a unique perspective on ANZAC. It's not just about the veterans of old... there are plenty of youthful returned service personnel too.
